This is becoming a catch-all section for those odds and ends that I really don't focus on a whole lot, but still have something to offer to you and other readers of this site. As such, it offers an eclectic variety of stuff. Included you'll find articles on publishing, food, philosophical ponderings and psychosocial thoughts (which often cross over with philosophy, lol). There is also a smattering of some short fiction and poetry of mine, too. Who knows what may crop up here in the future. ;-D   If you are interested in human interaction, especially in influence and manipulation, visit Autonomy vs Manipulation.

Publishing and Writing                 TOP

Building a Better News Release: What makes a good press release?
Meeting the Press: Press conferences can be, used appropriately, a good way to get the word out about your book.
What Publishers Wish Writers Knew: Writers often don't realize what it's like to be on the publishing end of the game. Here's a look.

Philosophical Thoughts                 TOP

Beth's soapbox derby

The Force of the Future: Try and make waves in the future, and it may hit you in the face like a wall of cold water.
Sex, Friendship and Love: It amazes and dismays me how happy we are as a society to destroy the best and most fulfilling of concepts and the human relationships built from them.

Psychosocial Observations                 TOP

Friendship: Thoughts on what is, and is not, real friendship and being a friend.
When Helping, Doesn't: Helping can sometimes be a bad thing, both for yourself and for the one you are trying to help.
Nit-Picking In Paradise: What is it with people who nitpick? Why do they do that?

Food                 TOP

Getting Started: Are you just starting out? Maybe just leaving school and on your own for the first time? This section will give you a list of the essentials if you are just setting up your first kitchen.
The Chef's Palette: Want to know how to think and cook like an artist...um...chef? Well, I'll try to help you see food and cooking as a new type of palette with loads of goodies to 'draw' from. ;-)
Playing With Your Food: Hey, forget what your mama told you when you were a kiddle...Playing with food is the best way to learn what you like and don't like, and how to balance the chef's palette. Experimentation is key.

Non-Fiction Stories:                 TOP

But Officer, I Wasn't Naked!... Well, really! I wasn't!!
A Real-Life Unsolved Mystery: How did an old oriental seal stone wind up buried under a tree? And what does the seal say?
Grisly (Not Grizzly) Soup: Oh, I've heard grizzly bear is good eating, but this soup is...different.

Short Fiction...and, ah,...stuff:                 TOP

Crossbow: A hunting trip of the demonic kind.
Mayhem O'Rama: The latest sales flyer is here!

Poetry:                 TOP

Yes, I know. Everyone seems to write poetry. *grin* But then, poetry is one of those forms of self-expression that can hold so much meaning for oneself... even if no one else can understand what you mean. LOL As far as it goes, I tend to write fairly stark free verse.

Short Free Verse 1: Includes "Mirror", "Winter Tree", "Watcher", "Pucca", "Dragon's Flight", "Snowfall", "Phoenix", and "Lost".
Short Free Verse 2: Includes "Webs", "Wildness", "High Plains Drifter", "Within", "Maelstrom", "Quadrad", "Bridled", and "Looking Glass".
